Term 1
My name is Monica and I am a student of Grade 8 in EISM. This blog will be my process journal to record all my work that I will have throughout the coming year.I wiill be putting all my work in class and I will also be posting some ieces of wirk like projects, presentations and reflections.
Here I have created the design cycle on Microsoft word.On Microsoft word to be able to create I first opened it in google so I could be able to clearly see the shape. After that, I started by opening Smart art on Microsoft word and from there I chose the shape that looked the closest to the shape of the cycle. After I chose the shape that fitted best I started typing up the data. After I was done I used snipping tool and put it on my post.In the MYP system there are 4 criterias which are criteria A, criteria B, criteria C and criteria D.
The MYP design Cycle talks about different points that all fall under 4 categories which are the steps of design that are all on the MYP design cycle. The whole cycle though covers digital design and the different points represent the different steps that are used in digital design which are Inquiring and analysing, Developing Ideas, creatoing the solution and evaluating. All 4 of these are the steps to creating and designing which is what we focus on during digital design projects which we commonly do during the year during events like tech fair where we cretae our own technological project but also when ever we focus on a new unit we use these steps for our final project of the unit.To conclude these 4 steps are a major part of our digital deisgn learning as it is always involved during our lessons throughout the whole year.
The MYP Design Cycle consists of 4 stages:
Criteria A - Inquiry and Analysing
Criteria B - Developing Ideas
Criteria C - Creating the Solution
Criteria D - Evaluating the Solution
Criteria Solving a problem
Criteria B: Secondly, you need to start to think of ideas for ways to create the object that you need ( criteria B ) you can plot it somewhere and put all your ideas on there as you create them.To help you with this step you can create a poster and put your ideas however, along with your ideas you should also put an explanation or some points along with it to know what the idea is when you come back to look at it, you could also think artistically and draw a small image of what you think the idea will look like so that when it comes to creating the solution you could also have some idea of what it will look like so that it could also help you when it comes to the point that you need to use your final idea and create it as a physical solution.
Criteria C: After that, you choose one of the ideas according to which one is the best one and then you work upon that to start creating the object to solve the issue ( criteria C).In this step, you should first start and write what the features of the object will be and how you will create it so that you will not have any misunderstandings when creating, it will also be clear enough for you to create it correctly. Also, you could create a design brief that could help you create the solution. Before creating the final solution you could create a draft solution that will help you see what the final one will look like and see whether there are problems in the object before creating the final one to see if you could fix these issues in the final solution to make it as good as possible of a solution for the issue. Finally, create the final solution and to help you with creating it you could also use your research and analyzation to make sure it could work as a solution for the given issue.
Criteria D: After you have created the object and solved the given issue you must know and make sure it is working and evaluate the way you solved the issue and how that has solved the problem that was given to you.For evaluating the solution you must first test it and see what it will do and whether the function that you wanted it to purposefully have actually work and does it actually solve the problem as a solution for it or not.In this evaluation you must also see whether it has any flaws that you could improve for next time and also you should see some improvements that you can take and work on for next time or even continue working on the one you are evaluation to make it even better until you think that it is a good enough solution for your issue.
